Meet Dr. Edwards
Justin Edwards, DO
Dr. Justin Edwards grew up the oldest of 4 children 2.5 hours outside of Las Vegas in Hurricane, Utah. Throughout his upbringing, Dr. Edwards was heavily involved in athletics and serving his community, earning his Eagle Scout award. He also earned 10 varsity letters in high school in football, basketball, baseball, and track. In his senior year, he was an All-Region punter and one of the MVPs that led his team to the state championship game. He participated in his school’s student government on the executive council and was part of the National Honor Society. He won the Sterling Scholar award for Math at his high school and was the regional runner-up in that category. He was also named the US Army Reserve Student Athlete of the Year.
After graduating high school, he attended one semester of college at Brigham Young University (BYU) before serving a 2 year proselyting mission for his church, where he was assigned to learn Mandarin Chinese and serve in San Diego, California.
He then continued his pre-medical studies at BYU, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and minor in Business Management. During this time, he also taught ESL, worked as a research assistant in the BYU Counseling Center, volunteered for the county Rape Crisis Team, and coordinated volunteers for hospice. He also participated in intramural sports and won a championship in dodgeball.
Dr. Edwards then enrolled in medical school at Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine. During medical school he was awarded as the Student Doctor of the Month, won more intramural championships in volleyball, and served in the leadership of multiple clubs. At the end of his studies he matched into his top choice: psychiatry.
After medical school, he completed his residency training at the Sunrise Health GME Consortium at Southern Hills Hospital. He won the 2nd Annual Lesley R. Dickson Resident Essay Contest and was elected to the position of Chief Resident in his last year of training. During his training, Dr. Edwards also got married and became a dog-dad to two amazing puppies, Teddy and Scout.
In his free time, Dr. Edwards enjoys woodworking, sports, spending time with his family and puppies, going to concerts, and listening to audiobooks.
